Alese & Co - Salem, OR Senior Photographer

My boyfriend Ryan's sister Alese is a senior in high school; young, energetic, cute, and full of goofy moments. On Friday of last week we met up with her and her two friends, Kaleb & Rachel to do some senior pictures. We started at River Front Park near downtown and ventured near the Gilbert house and then the slightly shady, very industrial Front street. We had a fun time just goofing off and I was delighted to get so many great photos of each of them in our time together.

Being with them for those few hours I was reminded of all the feelings, ideas, drama and excitement that I felt as a senior. Ahhh, what a crazy time!

Today I'll post the ones of Alese, along with some of the group ones I did for them as a little extra, and tomorrow I'll do Rachel & Kaleb's pictures.

And here's some of the group!

Brent Copple - Salem, OR Senior Photographer

Clouds and naked branches were the first thing I noticed when I stepped out of my wagon Thursday afternoon. With camera in hand I began investigating what interesting places may avail themselves to my photo shoot with Brent, my cousin, who was on his way. Minto Brown is the name of the park with naked branches, but can I blame those branches after suffering the last 5 months a harsh winter (at least according to Salem weather) and a drawn out cold front? No. So I went along with it and embraced the colder, skeletal, more vulnerable side of Minto Brown, no fake smiles, no shows, just the park at it's most basic form. In the same way I hoped to snatch something deeper than just a nice smile from Brent, I wanted to show you something deeper about him, who he is on the inside.

We trekked around from here to there taking photos as we went and every once-in-a-while there were moments of sheer vulnerability in front of the camera; unguarded, un-posed, real moments, the ones we photographers live for.

Here are the photos:

Elizabeth - Salem, OR Childrens Photographer

Last Sunday I met Elizabeth & her mom Sarah at her grandparents house for a picture day. They had great big windows that let in the soft pretty light of a cloudy spring day. We had a wonderful time, and Elizabeth couldn't have been more cute and endearing to the camera! She plopped right up on the couch and leaned into the camera without me saying a word, and just started giggling. She's a wonderful girl, (with an adorable haircut!) and it was a blast getting to know her!

Here she is with her best pal Goofy. He helped me take a lot of these photos ; )

This is one of my favorites! I think she's just so sweet and candid here.

It took a few tries for these window shots, she was squirming quite a bit, but well worth it.

:)

The one above and below are my other favorites! So natural!

We got out Elizabeth's tiny little piano and she entertained us for awhile with some upbeat tunes. Mom convinced her to put on this cute pink sweater.

We were looking for little critters in the flower pot, hoping to find a lady bug.

Thanks Elizabeth!

Some Time Has Passed = I've Neglected You

I realized today it had been awhile since I blogged. Turns out I haven't had as much opportunity to shoot lately :( , so there's not been as much reason to post. But I scrounged up a couple snapshots from that last week or so.

Friday Ryan & I went to the beach. It was a beautiful day, 65 at the beach! I worked a half day, so we headed up around 1:30 and arrived about 2:30. (WHAT? only an hour?...I love Oregon!)

Here's a few pics of my goofball:

and us :)

Ryan moving the log for us to rest against by the fire.
(Which by the way was a disaster! We were smoked out BIGTIME!)

These next ones are in my neighborhood.

haha, how cute.

To Grandmother's House I Go

Sunday I visited with my Grandma. We had chicken/black bean salad, guacamole, bread imported from Germany, and warm fresh coffee and berry crisp to top it all off. She's looking to move, downsize a little, and needed photos of the house. Here's just a few, I thought I'd show this interior work as it's different from the usual portraits I put on here. And staying with the goal of any true personal blog, it's allowing you a peek into my everyday life.

Goodbye!

What Do You Love Willamette Week?

I had no idea a person could love a miniature chair, toy plane, Obama, even a zoot MP3 player with Red Vines, but the folks out at Willamette Week Newspaper aren't your regular crowd. Friday I had the task of photographing all the employees, (or the ones that showed up) with something they loved. It's for an article they're gonna post online, (love going along with the theme of Valentines day), in hopes that readers will be inspired to send in pictures of themselves with something they love. It's not up yet, but I'll try to remember to link to it here when it is.

Here are a few of the photos. Real basic, nothing fancy about the composition, but I like some of the expressions!
