I Found Myself Online, Not In Paris

I've been interning with Willamette Week Newspaper now since October, and I've had many opportunities to meet people, much like myself, trying to carve their way through the artistic and/or business market of Salem/Portland Oregon. I've met small business owners just getting their feet off the ground to guys who've been in the game for longer than I've been alive.

I've mostly shot for a weekly article called 'Consumer Whore,' which highlights products that revolve around a similar theme. I've had some interesting topics come along, let me tell you!

Here are some links to see what I've been up to on old Quimby Road:

>>>Consumer Whore<
And here are some pics of the things I've shot (for those of you too lazy to actually follow the links).

Another publication I've shot for is Northwest Palate Magazine, a sleek modern Food, Wine, & Culinary Travel magazine of the Pacific Northwest. Unfortunately there isn't a link I can give you as it was in a back issue, but here's a few of the better images I shot for them of a restaurant called Eveo.

I will be putting some fresh stuff on here soon, I've been pretty busy with work and a million other things. Thanks for all you who follow and support me!

Mike & Sally - Salem, OR Photographer

This Sunday I had the amazing opportunity to photograph my awesome big sister Sally and her husband Mike. We had a great time, 36 degree temperatures aside, full of laughter, excessive smiling, and multiple outfit changes. She too is a photographer (www.sallyphotography.com) with beautiful portrait work.

We met at a local park, River Front, one of the only ones left with green grass. (I have to mention Ryan came along and did the honors of holder the reflector, nice touch I might add. Thank you!) The park itself isn't all that interesting, so it really forced me to be creative with my backgrounds, surroundings and angles. In the end though I am very happy with my work, and excited to share it here with you!

!!!Click on each individual photo to see a much bigger, lovelier version!!!

I really love the colors in this one, but especially those funky dead plants around them!

Haha, classic Sally face!

OK, good story behind the next two. I thought it could be cute to have them run towards me in so I could get something upbeat, exciting, split second-perfect. After suggesting this they both looked at me with furrowed brows and poo-hood about the whole thing. Good thing I didn't listen! Five runs later and here's what I got:

~CUTE~

Love this one (above)!

They are adorable together, they really love eachother to pieces!

What a great shoot, thanks so much Sally & Mike!

Last Week Tidbits (Soup Cycle, Lush Soap, Abby & Window Light)

This past week was full of Many photo-ops, and how better to share my day-to-day life with than you?

I visited with two lovely girls (one who refused to be photographed, ahem Rachel!). We walked around downtown Salem, clumsily trying to photograph things that sparked our interest.

I couldn't resist getting a photo of this ADORABLE VolksWagon!!! Yellow-cuteness!

And there you have it.

I was hanging with Ryan this weekend, and the lighting coming in from my window was begging to be recorded.

I was bored waiting for my subjects to arrive this Friday at Willamette Week, so I thought, cute purse, interesting lighting, camera....why not?

:Politician Guy:

Meet Jed, co-owner of soupcycle, a fresh, new bicycle-delivery soup business in Portland Oregon. All ingredients are local, tasty, and combined make a wonderful robust flavor! He was so fun to work with, thanks Jed!

Me!

Sunday after lunch Ryan & I spent some time outside, how couldn't we with such beautiful weather? I'm getting so excited for spring, (currently booking Spring shoots!) and had to get out in the fresh air. We both brought our cameras, and I decided to get on the other end of the camera for a change and allow someone special to capture some glimpses of me. I think Ryan did a wonderful job, and that says a lot as I'm uneasy with a lens in my face.
Thanks RYAN!!!

^ His and my favorite! ^

haha, this is such a kid face! ^ I made this as a little girl all the time.

Here he is! I think he should be my assistant photographer.

May I say how cute my shoes are?!

and here we are. : ) we make a wonderful team!
